meet rory clark

Rory Clark is the managing partner and founder of the Legacy Elder Law Center that practices elder law throughout Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia. He is also the president of GuideWISE, a care coordination and caregiver support company, and CEO of GuideWISE Realty. Since his appointment in 2010 by the Governor of Virginia and the Virginia General assembly, Rory has served as the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Escheator for 20th Judicial Circuit. He has been designated one of only five Qualified Master Counselors in Trusts & Estates Practice by the Virginia Law Foundation and has earned a rating of “AV-Preeminent” for legal skill and ethics by his peers in the law.

Rory has a long-standing commitment of service to the community, including governmental entities, non-profits, and not-for-profits.

Rory is the current Vice-President of the Virginia Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (VAELA) where he serves as the Chairman of the Strategic Planning Committee. He will assume the role of President for the upcoming term in 2025. Rory serves as Vice Chairman of the Loudoun County Board of Zoning Appeals where he has served since 2005. Rory is a past Chairman of the Finance Committee of Community Residences, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides quality services to help empower individuals with disabilities & mental health needs to live as high a quality of life as possible. He served on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee for many years.

Over a ten year period, Rory maintained significant leadership positions with the George C. Marshall International Center including Chairman of the Board, President, Treasurer, Secretary and Member of the Board of Directors. For over 20 years, he served as General Counsel to the Westmoreland Davis Memorial Foundation that owes and operates Morven Park in Leesburg, Virginia.

Rory was twice elected President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Virginia Tennis, the Virginia District affiliate of the United States Tennis Association. He also served several terms on the Board of Directors of the USTA/Mid-Atlantic Section. Rory has served as Senior Warden, Junior Warden, and Vestry member of St. James’ Episcopal Church in Leesburg, Virginia.

While in law school, Rory was the National Chairman of the American Bar Association, Law Student Division. During his time as an undergraduate at the Univeristy of Virginia, Rory served as President of the Student Body and President of the Student Council.
